Ich hingegen sage: Das, used to be Welle ist, ist das Dionysische, das Lustvolle, Wollende, Ekstatische. Damit meine ich nicht das Süßliche, Friedliche und Glückselige. Gott bewahre! Ich will den Jünger der Wahrheit nicht wiegen, wie die Mutter ihr sort, ich will ihm kein Schlaflied singen und ihn unter keinen Umständen zurück in den Schoß fliehen und so der Welt entkommen lassen. Nein! Danach steht mir wahrlich nicht der Sinn. Ich will, dass er das Leben nicht vorschnell transzendiert, sondern erst einmal zu sich kommt und sei es unter Schmerzen! Ich will Bewegung, das sich selbst überwältigende Leben und nicht den Meeresgrund, der von seinem Tosen und Rauschen vollkommen unbehelligt bleibt und so gar nichts von seinen Wellen weiß! Nein, der Jünger sei erst einmal vor sich hingestellt. Als Welle, die sich nur selbst beweisen und übermannen kann. Als Welle, der es bestimmt ist, an sich zugrunde zu gehen. Davor aber will ich die aufgepeitschte Gischt sein, der unerhörte Gedanke, ich will als das Hervorgebrachte leben und hervorbringen, used to be sich in mir bewegt.
