Das erste Beispiel (Kap. 3.1) stellt mit der Kolonisation Rondônias ein seit über a hundred Jahren anhaltendes Projekt der Integration und Besiedlung Amazoniens dar, während das zweite, der Verkehrskorridor Araguaia – Tocantins (Kap. 3.2), erst durch eine demokratische Regierung in den 1990er Jahren angestoßen wurde und sich deshalb in Vorgehensweise, Laufzeit und Auswirkungen gänzlich vom ersten Beispiel unterscheidet.
